Many sites change by visitor: prices in local currency, a different hero for each market, cookie consent only in the EU, store finders, shipping notices, translated pages, or content blocked in some countries. To check what users elsewhere see, for QA of your own site or to monitor someone else's, you need to render the page as a visitor from that place.
Language and time zone
Most localization is decided by the Accept-Language header and the browser's time zone:
curl -X POST "https://shotkit.net/api/take" \
-H "X-Access-Key: YOUR_ACCESS_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"url":"https://example.com","headers":["Accept-Language: de-DE,de;q=0.9"],"time_zone":"Europe/Berlin","block_cookie_banners":true}' \
--fail-with-body -o shot.jpgDates, times and anything computed from Date in JavaScript follow time_zone. Sites that pick a language from the header serve their German version.
GPS location
Store locators, delivery areas and maps that ask for the browser's location get the coordinates you set. The permission is granted automatically:
curl -X POST "https://shotkit.net/api/take" \
-H "X-Access-Key: YOUR_ACCESS_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"url":"https://example.com/store-locator","geolocation_latitude":48.8566,"geolocation_longitude":2.3522,"geolocation_accuracy":100,"time_zone":"Europe/Paris","headers":["Accept-Language: fr-FR,fr;q=0.9"]}' \
--fail-with-body -o shot.jpgCountry by IP address
Prices, currencies, legal notices and geo-blocking usually depend on the visitor's IP address. Route the request through a proxy in that country with proxy:
curl -X POST "https://shotkit.net/api/take" \
-H "X-Access-Key: YOUR_ACCESS_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"url":"https://example.com/pricing","proxy":"http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@de.proxy.example.net:8080","headers":["Accept-Language: de-DE"],"time_zone":"Europe/Berlin"}' \
--fail-with-body -o shot.jpgshotkit doesn't sell proxies; use any HTTP proxy provider with exits in the countries you need (residential proxies are blocked less often). Combine all three, IP, language and time zone, for the most realistic visitor.
Frequently asked questions
Do you provide proxies in different countries?
No. Bring any HTTP proxy with the proxy option, in the form http://user:password@host:port. This keeps you in control of which provider and countries you use.
Which time zones are available?
Major ones across the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Pacific, plus UTC. The list is in the request options.
Why does the page still show the wrong country?
The site probably decides by IP address. Language and time zone alone won't change that; add a proxy in the target country.
